Who are we?
House of Peace Foundation in Wroclaw is a center where preserving testimonies of people who live in the years 1933-1968 in the Middle Europe is joined by education for peace. Foundation, which was founded thanks to initiative of Breda bishop, Tiny Muskens, in cooperation with church and cultural centers, aims to contribute to propagation of inter-cultural and inter-national dialog. Foundation’s main goal is to lead the education for peace in contact with personal relations of witnesses and stories related to the past.
Wroclaw and Breda Partnership
In the year 1944 Breda was liberated by 1st Polish Armoured Division. That is why it become partnership city of Wroclaw, the city where history of many nations and the Middle Europe cultures have been blending together. With his initiative Breda bishop wants to contribute to reunion of nations and cultures, emphasizing by this that Dutch society is created by various cultures as well. The same may be said about Belgian society. Therefore, many organizations for peace in Netherlands and Belgium are committed to this venture.
Honour Comittee
Bishops of Roman-catholic, Greco-catholic, orthodox and protestant churches and Jewish Commune chairman were invited to create Foundation’s Honour Committee. Moreover: Meyers of both cities and leaders of church organizations in Breda, ex-ministers of foreign affairs of Poland and Netherlands, Władysław Bartoszewski and Hans van Mierlo. On venture realization, on Breda bishop’s behalf, Edward Skubisz is working on. He is a coworker of Netherlands Culture Center by Netherlands Philology Department at Wroclaw University. Foundation’s work is supported by academic project European Histories.

Foundation’s aim is to create center, which would be a peace monument, enabling meetings of various generations and cultures.
Foundation cultivates memory of people who died, were imprisoned or forced to misplace for political, racial, sexual or religious reasons in the years 1933-1968.
Transfer of historical information and witnesses testimonies will be used in education for peace, in relation to nowadays conflicts, as well.
Aims realization
1. permanent exhibition of stories, presentation of historic background and visual materials related to misplaced people;
2. exhibitions of various people, despite of their origins and where it took place, who experienced violence, tortures, discrimination and other;
3. meetings of educators and social workers related to education for peace and preventing conflicts;
4. leading works hops and creating educational materials (written and online) for schools and cultural organizations;
5. trainings for youth co-working with Foundation;
6. co-working with other organizations of similar profile from the region and in Europe.

Award of Marshal Andrzej Łoś for the best non-governmental organization.
On 21.02.2007 we were rewarded with the award for the best non-governmental organization at Lower Silesia by Andrzej Łoś.
Marshal awards are given in three categories: The Best Non-governmental Organization, The Best Volunteer and The Best Public Initiative realized by non-governmental organization. This was the third edition of contest which aims to popularize co-operation between municipality and public service organizations.
