„Fairytales meetings – unknown cultures of Wroclaw and their stores”

We run 10 workshops during project for youth in the age of 13-17 years old. There were meetings with people who represents different cultures, during which we were searching for elements connecting and separating fairytales, stories and legends from various parts of the world. As a result performance prepared by participants was shown.

Educational-artistic workshops
Six meetings focused on themes of fairytales and stores of various cultures.
First one – introduction to fairytales’ themes.
Afterwards, we met people representing less known cultures present in Wroclaw (Muslim, Lemkish, Greek and Korean). Guests were telling about their customs, legends, stores, shown archetypical types, important values, etc. We were trying, together with youth, to collect common points in various cultures.
In that way we wanted to inspire discussion about differences and similarities between cultures and prepare our participants to the next stage of the project.
Four workshops aimed in helping participants in preparing etude presenting multicultural aspects of Wroclaw. They were run by theatrical trainer.

Etude
Participants prepared themselves a script and decided about the form. It supposed to be a story about multicultural Wroclaw seen by youths living in this city.
Project „Fairytales meetings – unknown cultures of Wroclaw and their stores” had an aim in learning youth about cultures which are not associated with our city or region, however they its history or present reality.
We wanted to show them to young people in unusual context – through fairytales, stories and legends. Thanks to that youth learned to find differences and similarities in cultures which surrounds them. Therefore – to respect and appreciate them.
