Breda Days

During days 23.04.2007 – 29.04.2007 House of Peace Foundation, in cooperation with Royal Netherlands Consulate in Wroclaw, organized Breda Days – a week with Dutch culture in Wroclaw which supposed to show Breda culture, our partner city, to habitants of Wroclaw. Project was co-financed by Breda Municipality, Wroclaw Municipality and Royal Netherlands Consulate in Wroclaw.

Breda days
started on 23th of April in Galeria Miejska with an opening of three exhibitions: paintings by Maud Quaedvlieg (present at vernisage), photography of Wessel Keizer and works from Gallery Artilabo (invited to Wroclaw for International Festival Art of Mandala). The guests were greeted by chairman of Galeria Miejska - Teresa Kukuła, and workers of Towarzystwo Kultury Czynnej - Jolanta Sakowska and Adam Kamiński, Honorary Consul of Royal Netherlands Consulate - Wojciech Zipser and workers of House of Peace Foundation. Exhibitions could be seen till 25th of April.

On 24th of April Maud Quaedvlieg leaded in House of Edyta Stein painting workshops – for around six hours 10 participants drew and painted supported by her. The same day, in the evening, in Club Łykend the Dutch Evening took place. The meeting was lead by Honorary Consul of Royal Netherlands Consulate, Wojciech Zipser. After short multimedia presentation about Netherlands, Sygit Band player for an audience. At the end of the meeting guest could try Dutch delicacy – poffertjes.

On 25th of April in Kino Atom were screenings of Dutch movies and shorts. This event was very popular, especially among students.

On 26th of April, in cooperation with Wrocławskie Centrum Doskonalenia Nauczycieli, The Day of Queen took place on Wyspa Piaskowa – students of Wroclaw schools learnt about Dutch literature, youth games and delicacy. Organizators of the event were supported by Dutch Philology students.

On 29th of April, during Wieczory Tumskie, choir from Breda Betlehemkoor performed. There were mainly psalms by Huub Oosterhuis. Preceding lecture by Edward Skubisz „Spirituality of modern Netherlands”  was an opportunity to know the subject and profile of this Dutch theologian.
